Breaking News: Changes in DHCP Vendor Class Identifiers
Update for Windows and Android Devices
Vendor Class Identifier (VCI) for Windows
The traditional VCI for Windows-based devices, MSFT 50, has been updated. Some devices now utilize a new identifier: MSFT 50 XBOX.
VCI for Android
Additionally, the VCI for Android devices has been changed. The new identifier, android-dhcp-13, indicates a device running Android 13.
Reason for Changes
The changes to the VCI for Windows and Android devices are due to the introduction of new features in the latest versions of these operating systems. Microsoft claims that MSFT 50 is the most commonly used VCI since it supersedes MSFT and supports a wider range of Windows devices, including Windows 98.
