Our key priorities for the 2024-2029 legislature
The Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) is a centre-right political party in Germany. It is one of the two major parties in Germany, alongside the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). The CDU is a member of the European People's Party (EPP), the largest political party in the European Parliament.
In the 2019 European Parliament election, the CDU won 29.5% of the vote in Germany, winning 23 seats. The CDU is the largest party in the German delegation to the European Parliament.
The CDU's programme for the 2024 European Parliament election is based on the following key priorities:
- A stronger Europe: The CDU believes that Europe needs to be more united and stronger in order to face the challenges of the 21st century.
- A more prosperous Europe: The CDU believes that Europe needs to create more jobs and economic growth.
- A more secure Europe: The CDU believes that Europe needs to be more secure from threats such as terrorism and climate change.
- A more just Europe: The CDU believes that Europe needs to be more just and fair.
